Saudade · Portuguese bakery

One product, four ways to buy it, and a delivery checker that says no.

Person carrying Portuguese Tarts

The brief

A bakery built on one product sells it to four different customers: someone ordering online, someone picking up, someone walking into the store, and a caterer buying six hundred. Those are four different first questions, and one general ordering page answers all of them badly.

What we built

Buy online, pick up or delivery, visit us, and catering and wholesale are all reachable from the top of the site, with a minimum order stated on the product rather than discovered at checkout. The Norwood Place store opening is on the homepage.

A postcode checker tells a customer whether they are inside the delivery area before they build an order, and tells them plainly when they are not, while inviting them to leave the address, because the area is still expanding. Press coverage from Broadsheet, Glam Adelaide and The Parade Norwood runs as social proof.

The engineering

The delivery checker runs against a client-editable area list, so extending delivery to a new suburb is an edit and not a deployment. Catering and wholesale enquiries go through their own form with their own fields rather than the retail contact form. Store locations, hours and the press section are all maintained by the business.
