Chocolique · Belgian drinking chocolate

A wholesale buyer should never be sent through a consumer cart.

Drinking chocolate dripping into cup

The brief

A product brand founded by Karel and Kate Vandersteegen, selling handmade chocolate stirrers from sustainable cacao. Retail and trade look like the same transaction and are not: one is a card payment, the other is a conversation about volume and terms.

What we built

A Shopify storefront covers retail: milk and dark chocolate stirrers, with serving suggestions for hot and iced versions of each, which is the honest way to sell a product whose use is not obvious from the packet.

Wholesale runs as its own path with its own enquiry, kept out of the consumer checkout entirely. The story behind the brand and the “taste isn’t our only difference” section on sourcing carry the argument for why it costs what it costs.

The engineering

Shopify handles retail checkout and shipping. Wholesale is a separate validated enquiry that reaches the founders directly, not a trade account bolted onto the storefront. Serving suggestions are structured content, so a new serve is an entry rather than a template change.
